Join us for a two-and-a-half-hour hike at Mahlon Dickerson Reservation (MDR) in Jefferson. At 3,494 acres, MDR is the largest park in the Morris County Park System and boasts over 24.5 miles of multi-use trails for all skill levels. Experienced hiker and MDR trail maintenance volunteer Ed Young will provide a guided hike through the reservation. Ed has been an MDR volunteer since 2001, leading hiking groups for many years since his retirement in 2000 from the Army. Registrants will receive further details on the meeting location prior to the hike. Masks will be required when social distancing isn't possible.

In celebration of National Trails Day, we will be hosting a two-hour hike along the Lake Hopatcong Trail and James Leach Boardwalk Trail to Liffy Island in Jefferson. Guided by Jefferson Mayor Eric Wilsusen, the hike will provide an overview on the preservation of the Prospect Point Preserve and the building of the recently constructed footbridge to Liffy Island as well as some history on the island.

Celebrate Father’s Day with us with a two-hour hike along the Cowboy Creek section of the Lake Hopatcong Trail in Hopatcong. The hike will be lead by Rob Bond, a trail maintainer for the Lake Hopatcong Foundation and the NY-NJ Trail Conference. Rob spent the first year of his retirement re-connecting with the local treasures by hiking every section of the Lake Hopatcong Trail and the Highlands Trail around Lake Hopatcong in 2020. He aspires to help promote the existing trail systems and to find opportunities to expand them, including establishing clearly marked trail loops.
