It’s the last leg of the Lake Loop (say that twenty times fast, while jogging)! After a full week of virtual fundraising and activity, the challenge ends tonight at midnight; and as with last year’s virtual challenge, we are awe-struck at the level of commitment participants and their donors have shown – and continue to show - to this event.
Going into these final hours, we are happy to report that (as of this writing) we have raised over $21K and have received the challenge grant of $20K from an anonymous donor! With the generous $20K match, our grand total now stands at an incredible $41,000! Our ambitious $50K fundraising goal remains in sight, and we are planning to keep our donation page open following the completion of the challenge.
When it comes to our activity goal of 2,021 combined hours/miles, we need another 330 hours/miles. All 73 participants are encouraged to head to RunSignUp and select “submit your activities here” from the top toolbar. We know some of you have been meaning to record those activities, and the time to do so is now. We’re in the fourth quarter of the game, confident we can squeak out a win!
The Lake Loop, whether it’s in-person with participants lacing up their trail-running shoes, splashing their kayak paddles, and pedaling their bikes, or virtual with folks doing all of the above plus any sort of exercise you can think of, is one of two critically important fundraising events we organize to support our programs in the areas of environment, education, recreation, safety, arts and culture, and community. It’s also a great opportunity to challenge ourselves and get active as a healthy, vibrant lake community!
Late tonight, we’ll be tallying up our combined dollars, hours, and miles, and on Sunday, thanks to our partnering sponsor, Live the Lake NJ, we’ll be gathering at Hopatcong State Park at 12:30 pm for an afternoon of music, food, and drinks, to celebrate this year’s event. All are welcome to join us as we acknowledge our dedicated Lake Loopers and present some fabulous prizes to our top fundraisers and most active participants. Don’t forget to BYOChair and join us!
It’s been one heck of a week – especially for Kyle, who is running as we speak in exchange for all the donations he’s received – and it ain’t over yet! Thank you truly for all you, our dedicated supporters do, to power the Lake Hopatcong Foundation and help us bring together our community and protect and improve our lake!
