It was a full house for our annual meeting last night, June 8, at the LHF Environmental & Cultural Center, which was bursting with color from the more than 170 drawn, colored, and painted submissions to our "Dive in and get creative!" art contest.
The meeting kicked off by recognizing the following student artists with a first-place cash prize of $100: Jeremy G. (Grade 2), Lindsey C. (Grade 4), Joshua G. (Grade 7), and Ashley A. (Grade 12). Also recognized were our second-place winners who received a $25 Michael’s gift card; Xander B. (Grade 2), Akhil A. (Grade 4), Sophia B. (Grade 7), and Sanjna V. (Grade 9). In addition, each of the winning artists received a gift card from local frame shop, Helrick’s, to have their artwork framed. A big hand for our eight contest winners and to all of the young artists aged 6 to 18 who submitted their artwork celebrating New Jersey's largest lake.
An exhibit of all of the student artwork will be on display Mon-Fri from 10 am-4 pm at the LHF Environmental & Cultural Center, 125 Landing Road, Landing throughout the month of June. We hope you will stop by and check it out!

After presenting the art awards, LHF Executive Director Kyle Richter also honored Rich Romeo and Sherri Salamanca with a token of our appreciation for their 6 years of service on our Board of Trustees. He then shared information and updates on our current efforts to protect the environment and enhance the experience on and around Lake Hopatcong as well as some of our plans for the future. If you weren't able to join us, you can check out a video of the evening below.
