Spring programs at the Environmental & Cultural Center

Spring is just around the corner and we are so excited to announce our 2020 spring programs at the Lake Hopatcong Foundation Environmental & Cultural Center! Our spring lineup includes gardening, safety, and even our first children’s program!

We are continuing to monitor the situation with COVID-19. As conditions evolve and guidance is provided by health officials, we will do our best to keep everyone up to speed with the status of our spring programs at the LHF Environmental & Cultural Center.

Natives – for your Garden, for the Planet

CANCELLED – Thursday, April 30, 2020 – 7 pm

Lake Hopatcong Foundation Environmental & Cultural Center
125 Landing Road, Landing, NJ

$5 donation requested, registration required

Program

Join David Hyde, of Well-Sweep Herb Farm, to learn about the benefits of perennial natives and nativars as well as how to introduce them into the garden and help them thrive. There will be information presented on selecting, transplanting, growing, and maintaining natives and how to use them for different landscape solutions. Because native plants are adapted to the local area, they require less water, are less susceptible to pests and diseases, and do not generally need fertilizer. These important plants provide nectar, pollen and seeds that feed native butterflies, insects, birds and other animals. Native plants can be particularly important at Lake Hopatcong in filtering water before it reaches the lake and making your yard much less attractive to geese.
