Welcoming our summer intern, Gwen Lam

June 10, 2021| People

By: Holly Odgers

We are thrilled to welcome Gwendolyn Lam to the LHF team as our summer intern!

Gwen is a rising Sophomore at Swarthmore College in Swarthmore, PA, where she is pursuing a double major in Biology and Environmental Studies and a minor in Statistics. In addition to her studies, she also serves as president of the Bird Club of Swarthmore College, where she is learning about the nuanced differences between bird species and sharing her knowledge through a weekly newsletter.

In her first two weeks with us, Gwen has already hit the ground running by assisting with preparations for the Floating Classroom public cruises and creating a flyer to promote our upcoming excursions. She has also created a reference map to assist with determining the gaps in B-SAFE Dock Numbers along the shoreline of Lake Hopatcong. When she’s not busy calibrating lake monitoring equipment or designing new Lake Steward T-shirts, she can be found in the office, helping to keep the wheels turning behind the scenes.

In addition to joining the LHF team for the summer, Gwen is also serving as an Agroecology volunteer at Duke Farms, where she assists with pruning, planting, watering, and weeding and is learning about the distinctions between food crop species.

Gwen is detail-oriented and hardworking and a pleasure to have in the office. We’re very fortunate to have her with us for the summer and hope you get to meet her at one of our upcoming events.

Welcome, Gwen!
