Do you want to learn more about native plants and their benefits? Or get some guidance on what plants to purchase at our Native Plant Sale this spring? Then join us for our spring program, "eco-friendly landscape design," on Thursday, April 13, at 7 pm at the Lake Hopatcong Foundation Environmental & Cultural Center, 125 Landing Road, Landing.
with Master Gardener trainer Lisa Chiariello
Lake Hopatcong Foundation Environmental & Cultural Center, 125 Landing Road, Landing, NJ
FREE - donations are appreciated
Registration is required (form below)
The program will focus on design choices for landscaping that can help keep lake shores healthy while providing eco-friendly plants that support local wildlife. Adding native plants to home landscapes in a manner that mimics how plants grow in natural communities, a naturalistic planting that matches the right plants to the existing site conditions, can result in beautiful and successful long-term plantings.
Lisa Chiariello, Program Associate for Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Sussex County, has been training Master Gardener volunteers and delivering educational outreach to residents of Sussex County for over 10 years. Her main areas of interest are ecology, native plants, plant communities, sustainable landscape design, and plant relationships with insects and other living organisms. Prior to joining Rutgers, Lisa ran her own garden design business Jersey Jungle, which focused on adding native plants to home landscapes. In her leisure time, you can find Lisa in the garden (of course) or out enjoying hiking, canoeing, and photography.
This program has concluded and registration is closed.
