A big thank you to an amazing group of 44 volunteers who joined us and removed 43 bags of trash, along with some larger items, from the river area just below the dam at Hopatcong State Park on Saturday, April 15, as part of the Musconetcong Watershed Association's (MWA) river cleanup.
This annual river cleanup draws hundreds of volunteers to remove trash at various locations along the Musconetcong River, from Lake Hopatcong to the Delaware River confluence. It has become tradition for the Lake Hopatcong Foundation to help coordinate the Hopatcong State Park location.
As of this writing, the combined stats for sites along the 45 miles of the Musconetcong River include 342 volunteers who removed 196 bags of trash, 36 bags of recyclables, and 22 tires that could have ended up in the waterway.
Congrats to the MWA and all of the volunteers for a job well done!
