The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) hosted a virtual HAB summit on March 8, 2021, to share information, updates, and progress related to HAB science, monitoring, response, management, treatment, and communication.
During the virtual all-day seminar, presenters shared updates on ongoing HAB projects and information on such topics as emerging HAB treatment technologies and best management practices for controlling HABs. NJDEP also introduced their newly established HAB Expert Team, who are working to develop lakes management guidance. A member of the HAB Expert Team, Princeton Hydro Director of Aquatics Programs Dr. Fred Lubnow, discussed the management activities to prevent, mitigate, and/or control HABs at Lake Hopatcong at 1:45:35 in the morning session (video below).
