Were you interested in our Cocktail Party on Halsey Island but couldn’t make the date? We’re excited to announce a new date and time for this popular excursion: Sunday, September 26 from 1 pm-4 pm!
Head down to Nolan’s Point and hop on the Miss Lotta, which will cruise you over to #54 on Halsey Island. There, you will spend a lovely Sunday afternoon enjoying the home and surroundings that rest on the land of the former summer cottage known as Cedar Crest - where famous painter and author Eric Sloane grew up. Enjoy cocktails and plated hors d'oeuvres along with live entertainment by one of our favorite artists, Maribyrd.
Miss Lotta leaves the dock promptly at 1 pm, however, should you need to join later via the water taxi, please email Caitlin@lakehopatcongfoundation.org.
This experience first appeared in our July Set Sail Gala and Auction, and we are excited to extend the invite beyond the auction!
Speaking of auction items, we still have opportunities to join us on Sunday, October 10th at 2 pm for a very special edition of the Breslin Park Walking Tour. This is an easy-paced 90-minute walk on flat terrain, led by Lake Hopatcong Historical Museum President Marty Kane. Explore the development known as Breslin Park, where captains of industry, the most famous actress of her generation, and a former vice-president once lived.
Special Bonus: with many thanks to Sherry & Bob O'Donnell, this walk will now include a very special visit inside the former home of Breslin Park's most famous resident, Miss Lotta Crabtree.
Beautifully restored, the cottage Lotta's mother had designed for her by the famous American architect Frank Furness and presented as a gift in 1885, is a must-see. This is a rare opportunity to see one of the lake's most beautiful homes and learn its history.
We look forward to seeing you on one or both excursions that support our efforts to protect and improve Lake Hopatcong!
