Spring is in full swing, marking the return of our eighth annual native plant sale! With over 45 varieties of plants native to New Jersey, this year's sale offers a diverse selection that supports local ecosystems while enhancing gardens throughout the area.
Online ordering is now open and will be available through 6 pm, Thursday, May 2 at LHFplantsale.givesmart.com. Pickup for online purchases will take place on Saturday, May 4, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Lake Hopatcong Foundation, 125 Landing Road, Landing.
We're excited to offer a great mix of native plants this year, including beloved favorites like coneflowers, columbine, and cardinal flowers, as well as some unique picks such as mayapple and bloodroot. We've also added a number of native shrubs to our sale, and we will again be selling the pawpaw and American plum trees.
Plants provided will be well-rooted, seedlings in quart containers unless otherwise noted (see picture for examples). Our native plants are supplied by Well-Sweep Herb Farm, with a few varieties from the Catskill Native Nursery, Penn Natives Conservation Seedlings, and US Perennials.
Native plants are critical to the health of our environment, providing habitat for pollinators, insects, and wildlife, as well as contributing to the health of our soil and water systems. They are also more adapted to local growing conditions and require less maintenance than non-native plants, making them a sustainable and cost-effective choice.
We hope you add native plants to your yard or garden this spring!
