Every year, the Coalition for the Delaware River Watershed (CDRW) has representatives from its member organizations visit with state and federal officials to discuss issues of importance for the watershed, of which Lake Hopatcong is a part. Instead of traveling to Trenton to meet with state legislators, Zoom calls were conducted this past December with many of our local legislators including Senators Bucco and Oroho.
Every March, the CDRW organizes a “Hill Day” with scheduled visits with our federal representatives in their Washington offices. This year it became “Hill Week” with meetings scheduled last week via Zoom. The Lake Hopatcong Foundation was invited to be part of the delegations visiting Representatives Sherrill, Gottheimer, and Malinowski and/or staff. It was a great opportunity to discuss issues involving this region. We hope to have each of the representatives visit the lake during the course of the year.
