Hello Everyone,
I am Cole and today marks my last day as a summer intern at the Foundation. Throughout my internship experience, I have been so lucky to meet many of you through working to launch floating wetland islands in Ashley Cove, working as a Lake Steward, and registering attendees in the auction at the 10th Annual LHF Gala. I have also spent many hours working alongside my wonderful colleagues at the Foundation to create interactive water trail resources and redesign the brochure map.
On my first day at the foundation, I jumped right into community work around the lake and had the chance to meet board members and volunteers who, alongside myself and my colleagues, helped to plant and install floating wetland islands in Ashley Cove.
Although my summer has been quite busy with the completion of a Graphic Design course and two internships at the Foundation and Greener By Design in New Brunswick, it has taught me how to balance my schedule and work diligently on many different tasks.
These summer months working at the Foundation have flown by and it is unbelievable that I have been able to leave a mark in the efforts to protect our lake, create recreational resources, and help local businesses, through my work on water trails and an updated guide map.
Additionally, working at the Gala has taught me the skills necessary to plan and execute a fundraising event. It is safe to say that I came out of this experience with much gratitude for the work that Foundation staff, board, and volunteers have put into making it run smoothly. This event also allowed me to connect with more community members than I ever have in the 14 summers I have spent on the lake!
As I finish my last day at the Foundation, I have been reflecting on the amazing experiences I had this summer and the people who I was able to connect with.
As always, I am looking forward to seeing you all again next summer on the lake!
Warmly,
Cole
