We were honored to have representatives from New Jersey member groups of the Coalition for the Delaware River Watershed (CDRW) join us on the Floating Classroom this past Wednesday for a tour of Lake Hopatcong.
The CDRW was formed to protect the Delaware River basin from environmental threats by uniting 180+ local, state, regional, and national organizations spanning the 4-state watershed. The Coalition builds capacity, coordinates communications, and advances policy at the federal and state levels to ensure that the entire watershed (including New Jersey’s largest lake!) is robustly funded and sustainably managed to support both people and wildlife.
After an afternoon on the water, representatives from the Coalition for the Delaware River Watershed, Musconetcong Watershed Association, Trout Unlimited, Association of New Jersey Environmental Commissions, The Nature Conservancy, New Jersey Conservation Foundation, New Jersey Future, and New Jersey League of Conservation Voters gathered with us at the Lake Hopatcong Foundation Environmental & Cultural Center. Here, they shared current successes within the Delaware River Watershed and strategized on focus areas where we can collaborate for maximum impact on environmental and clean water issues in New Jersey.
