Each spring, the Musconetcong Watershed Association (MWA) organizes a river cleanup that brings together volunteers from across the region to remove trash and debris all along the Musconetcong River, from Lake Hopatcong to the Delaware River confluence. This year's cleanup is scheduled for Saturday, April 13 starting at 9 am.
The Lake Hopatcong Foundation is pleased to assist with this effort each year by coordinating the Hopatcong State Park portion of the cleanup. Hopatcong State Park is location #1 on the river cleanup map and you can join us at this location by registering for the cleanup event HERE. We will meet at Hopatcong State Park at 9 am to hand out gloves and trash bags and direct volunteers to locations. Stay as long as you like, we will be there until 11 am. Please bring your reusable water bottle to stay hydrated.
This is a great volunteer opportunity for individuals, families, or even scout troops. The terrain varies from difficult along parts of the river, to average along hillsides, and easy along trails. You can make a huge difference in just a short hour or two!
After the Clean-Up, you are invited to join the MWA for a BBQ cookout at their River Resource Center headquarters, located at 10 Maple Avenue, Asbury, NJ 08802. This event is free for all volunteers as a thank-you for your dedication to keeping the Musconetcong River healthy and vibrant for generations to come.
Thanks to the MWA for their hard work organizing this extensive cleanup each year along the beautiful Musonetcong!
