groundhogAccording to Staten Island Chuck, spring is just around the corner… and with the warmer weather comes a slew of upcoming LHF volunteer opportunities! From block parties to hiking to field trips, we have something for everyone. Check out some of the opportunities below and then click the links at the end to register. We’re looking forward to working with you 🙂

We are looking for a BIG GROUP of volunteers to help us at the 2017 Block Party on May 13th at Hopatcong State Park. This event is a FUN day! Volunteer with a friend and double your fun! Volunteer slots are available in three categories: Half-Day Morning Session 6:45am-12:45pm, Half-Day Afternoon Session 1pm-6pm, and All Day 6:45am-6pm

The first phase of the Lake Hopatcong Trail is taking shape in the Borough of Hopatcong and we need your help! Get outside this spring. Bring a friend. Meet new people. It should be lots of fun! There will be many opportunities in 2017 to work independently and in small groups to help build, blaze and maintain this local trail. Register for “Recreational Trails” (below) and we will keep you updated.

Dozens of volunteers are needed to teach, assist and guide 4th-grade students around Hopatcong State Park for a day of learning about lake ecology and history. Throughout the Spring, more than 500 students will come through our field trip program to learn about different aspects of the Lake Hopatcong watershed, including a boat ride, a hike, a hands-on watershed model, and an opportunity to collect macro-invertebrate samples just downstream of the dam to gauge water health.

If you have never volunteered with us, we need you to fill out a volunteer registration form. After that you can sign up for specific opportunities.

If you’ve volunteered with us before and have already filled out our registration form, then head straight over to sign up for the opportunities you are interested in!

Together we can make Lake Hopatcong the best it can be!
