Excited to be back!

I am so excited to officially return to work as president of the Lake Hopatcong Foundation after 20 months of being away on educational leave. Although I remained on the board of trustees during my time away, I definitely missed being a part of the everyday scene on Lake Hopatcong – I missed the view, I missed the staff, and I missed all of you!

That said, I am incredibly grateful for my time at NYU’s Wagner School of Public Service, where I have been working to receive my Master of Public Administration degree, with a specialization in nonprofit management. Although I don’t officially graduate until later this month, I have completed most of my instructional time, which was immensely interesting and insightful. I come back to the LHF office full of ideas that I hope will help our team make the LHF be the best organization it can be, and engage the community in fun new ways.

I also come back with a new little one in tow! My daughter Charlotte was born in March, and she will be my sidekick at the office until she starts daycare in September. (Her older sister and brother will likely be making occasional appearances as well.)

Huge thanks to Donna Macalle-Holly, who served as acting executive director while I was on leave, and who oversaw a whole bunch of great milestones for the LHF. She and the rest of the staff and board are incredible, and will be sharing many of those at our LHF Annual Meeting, which is taking place at 6:30 p.m. this Friday, May 4 at the Garden State Yacht Club. (Where we’ll also be christening our new Floating Classroom!) We’re offering childcare to help make it family friendly as well. So I really hope to see many of you there! You can learn more and RSVP here.

I’ve bumped into many of you during my time on leave, at LHF events and around the lake in general, and I can’t thank you enough for all of your support and kind words of encouragement along the way. It was a bit chaotic at times, but I’m so grateful for this experience, and I took in every lesson through the lens of how it could be applied at the LHF. And now I’m excited to roll my sleeves up and get back to work and apply some of these concepts and ideas.

Thanks, and hope to see many of you this Friday night at the Garden State Yacht Club, or at another upcoming LHF event. Warmer days are here (yay!), and I’m so thrilled to be spending them on beautiful Lake Hopatcong once again.

Warmly,
Jess
