A selection of sponsorships are available for Lake Loop 2019, providing a valuable publicity opportunity within the Lake Hopatcong community spanning four towns and two counties along with many surrounding areas. Proceeds from the event will go toward the Lake Hopatcong Foundation’s programs and initiatives aimed at fostering and encouraging a vibrant and healthy Lake Hopatcong and its surrounding community.
Trophies for top finishers
Trophies will be awarded for top finishers in the trail run and bike hill climb categories. We will be using Strava to track top finishers of the hill climbs on the bike route. Download the Strava app on your phone and join the Lake Loop group on or before the event day. The run will be timed, start to finish, each lap is 1.5 miles and participants wanting to complete the 5k will need to complete the route twice.
Fundraise for the cause
Fundraising is simple! After you’ve completed the registration process, a fundraising page will automatically be created for you. Post your fundraising page on social media and-or send it to friends, family, and colleagues and encourage them to help you reach your goal. Fundraising helps makes Lake Loop a success. All donations go to the Lake Hopatcong Foundation and fostering a vibrant and healthy Lake Hopatcong and its surrounding community. Get together with your friends and fundraise as a team, it’s always more fun as a team (see team incentives below)!
NEW! Team Incentives
Create a team and fundraise for the cause. If your fundraising team raises $1000 you will have your own, exclusive tent at the event with your team name on it! Stocked with drinks and goodies, you can relax and regroup there as your team powers through the events of the day. Registration fees do NOT count towards fundraising incentives.
The cycling course will go clockwise around the lake and consist of approximately 20 miles of rolling terrain. This is a great course for experienced cyclists, weekend warriors or riders who want to stretch their legs and enjoy the ride. As the name suggests this route loops the lake and offers many lake views that you can truly appreciate from a bike. Along the way you can also appreciate some of the amazing homes and historic sites as you ride. Although you may have driven some of these roads, they will seem very different when enjoyed from the saddle of a bike. This course is not flat but, there are no significant hills that might deter those looking for an enjoyable ride. This is not a race. Go at your own pace and enjoy the ride.
If you are an experienced cyclist who is looking for more of a challenge, the 40 and 62-mile courses include a hilly extension added to the 20-mile course. You’ll enjoy the same amazing scenery while challenging yourself with the additional mileage as well as the more challenging terrain. No trikes or training wheeled bicycles allowed. Helmets are required.

Strava Bike Timing – For those bikers who would like to be involved, we will be using Strava to track top finishers of the hill climbs on the bike route. Top finishers will receive recognition.
5k trail run
This timed trail run, sanctioned by the USATF, will take you in and around Hopatcong State Park with challenging hilly trails, over the sandy beach and back to the finish line. The varied terrain will be fun and interesting and will give you a new appreciation for Hopatcong State Park. Presented by members of Salt Shakers trail running club, this course promises to be one of the more unique run/walks you’ve participated in. The course is 1.5 miles long and those running the 5k will run/walk the course twice. Learn more about the Salt Shakers Running Club by checking them out www.saltshakersrun.com and run with them on Tuesday nights.
Paddle around the lake on a 2.5-mile course. Push off and experience the peaceful quiet beauty of Lake Hopatcong. Presented by The Lake Hopatcong Paddling Club, club members will mark and patrol the course to provide a safe and fun day of paddling. Participants may use their own kayaks/paddleboards/canoes at their own risk. Coast guard approved life jackets are required for all paddling participants. Tandem kayaks are welcome but, each participant must be registered. The paddling course will be open from 11-2pm. The last paddler will be allowed to enter the course at 1 pm.
We have partnered with Ramsey Outdoors again this year and kayaks/paddleboards/canoes will be available for rent for $20 if pre-registered. If you rent, your kayak, paddleboard or canoe will be on the beach ready to go when you arrive.
