We always knew we had a rockstar on staff with grants and programs director Donna Macalle-Holly. But yesterday, we were thrilled to see an outside group recognize her as well! At the New Jersey Highlands Coalition’s annual meeting, which was held at the Lake Hopatcong Yacht Club, Donna was awarded the “Above & Beyond Award” for stepping up as acting executive director while I was on educational leave. As the Coalition’s Mark Lohbauer noted in his presentation of the award, Donna not only took on additional work, but also kept things moving forward for the LHF without the group skipping a beat.
I can vouch that as much as you see the Foundation doing publicly, there is a whole lot more happening behind the scenes, and our staff does not get the opportunity to rest. Throw in the fact that I stepped away for a year and a half to attend graduate school, and you can only imagine how much Donna (and our other staff members, particularly managing director Holly Odgers) had to juggle. But they kept things moving along, and the organization continued to grow and make a difference on Lake Hopatcong.
Donna has been on the LHF staff since 2013, when the Foundation was just a year old. (Before that, she was still committing herself to the lake through her work as administrator for the Lake Hopatcong Commission.) We cannot thank her enough for all she has done since then, through all kinds of conditions, to help us live up to our mission of improving the lake environment and experience. She was so worthy of the recognition she received yesterday, and we are so proud to have her on our team. Congrats, Donna!
