Academy for Environmental Sciences Doing Great Things in Jefferson

The Lake Hopatcong Foundation has been a partner with the Academy for Environmental Sciences, part of the Morris County Vo-Tech program and run out of Jefferson Township High School, since it was first announced in 2015. Academy students have helped teach elementary school students during our spring field trips and have worked as some of our Lake Stewards, and we continue to find new and exciting ways to partner with this incredible group of students.

The academy itself, which is led by Nancy Fitzgerald, includes students from all over Morris County. It provides students with the interdisciplinary study of natural processes and human impacts in the atmosphere, aquatic systems, and soils, linking the principles of art, history, language arts, technology, biology, chemistry, physics and mathematics to environmental concepts.

To learn about what they’ve been up to recently, check out their Fall 2018 Newsletter. And learn more about the program itself at the Jefferson Township High School website. We are so lucky to have this academy right here in Jefferson!
