Hopatcong State Park has provided an update on the outflow at the dam.
The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection’s Fish & Wildlife has been monitoring conditions downstream of Lake Hopatcong for consideration of a reduction in outflow at the dam at Hopatcong State Park. In accordance with the Lake Hopatcong Water Level Management Plan, a reduction in outflow may be considered when the summer lake level drops below 8 ft. The lake level is currently at 7.84.
After this week’s rainfall, Fish & Wildlife has determined that conditions permit a reduction in flow (the minimum flow of 12 cfs to be reduced to 8.2 cfs) without jeopardizing the downstream aquatic resources. They will continue to monitor downstream conditions to determine when flow may need to be restored.
The outflow will be reduced tomorrow morning, Saturday, September 10.
