The Lake Hopatcong Foundation will be hosting a native plant sale on Saturday, May 6, from 9 am to 1 pm, at the Lake Hopatcong Train Station, 125 Landing Road, Landing. We will have 26 different varieties of plants, all originally native to New Jersey, for sale.
Have you ever heard of the Yellow Spring Beauty? This native flower is found only in New Jersey and nowhere else in the world!
The Yellow Spring Beauty, with its bright dime-sized blossoms, can be found only in the Arctic Meadows Preserve, in nearby Stillwater Township, which is currently protected by The Nature Conservancy. So rare is the Yellow Spring Beauty, you can only see it in the wild if you’re doing scientific research, and your visit must be arranged in advance.
While you won’t find the Yellow Spring Beauty at our native plant sale, you will find a variety of flowering plants, evergreens and shrubs that will require far less water and care than non-native plants because they have adapted to their local environmental conditions. So simplify your gardening and protect our native heritage by going native in your yard and coming to the LHF native plant sale in May!
