One of the priorities of the Lake Hopatcong Foundation is to keep residents and visitors informed of all kinds of lake events and notices, from the annual LHYC Independence Day Fireworks Show to a high-water no-wake zone status. Here are some of the activities this team is up to.
The LH Guide (get download information here) is a FREE app that informs boaters of lake news and events, high-water warnings, lakefront business information, historical photos and information, kayaking launch points, hiking trails, and more. It also allows users to quickly call the State Police if there is an on-the-water issue that needs to be reported. This was a joint effort with the Recreational Trails team.
In the spring and fall, the Lake Hopatcong Foundation sends a Lake Guide out to lake-area residents and supporters in the broader region, providing information about how to keep the lake clean, safe, and enjoyable for all. To download copies of past newsletters, click below:
A combined effort with the Police/Safety Team, this effort will involve assigning sequential numbers to every property around the lake, in conjunction with the municipalities’ emergency services. Those homeowners who choose to can receive dock numbers from the LHF to put at the end of their docks, bulk heads, or boat houses so boaters can easily identify their location when calling in an emergency. (Or just to use as directions to guide navigation.)
